Git Awareness Week: Git Gui

Posted by on September 11, 2008

I had been looking for a tool to visually browse my Git repository status when I “discovered” (read: opened my eyes to) Git Gui.  Maybe you already knew about, but for those who didn’t; Now you know.

Git Gui came packaged with my Git (1.6.0).  It’s easy to use.  Has a lot of features that I haven’t even looked at nor will I share about here.  I’d just suggest checking it out sometime with a simple

git gui &

command from your repository.  If you’re on OSX I’d suggest opening the Git Gui Preferences and changing both the “Main Font” and “Diff/Console Font” to Monoco 10pt.

OK… There’s no such thing as “Git Awareness Week.” I just made it up…. “Git Gui” just isn’t a good title…

Hmm… Maybe there should be a Git Awareness Week?
